RB Choudhary the producer of Supergood Films hosted a pressmeet to celebrate the success of his Jilla movie. The Producer had this say in the event
"Pongal has become a celebration of sorts for distributors, producers and film makers normally 4-5 movies would be released for but only a single movie would go on to be blockbuster but in this case looking at both the movies Jilla and Veeram they are all set for record collections a world record of sorts. Mohanlal Sir called me up from Dubai and said he was very happy and thanked me for giving a huge blockbuster after a longtime in Kollywood. Jilla movie has surpassed even the records of an orginal Malayalam movie and all that in a just a single day collection. I guess being the Kerala distributer Mohanlal has every right to be happy. The movie was released with 'Thara Thapattai' and fireworks in Dubai. It's a very happy pongal for all us and we are very very happy indeed".
RB Choudhary went on to add that both of the movies have gone to be hits and said he called up this press meet to celebrate this happiness. On the question of why the movie was trimmed by 10 minutes, He said audiences today expect only 2 to 2 1/2 hours maybe but our movie was 3 hours long and hence we had to trim it.
The producer also added that he believed this movie was Vijay's best opening till date and though he can't say this just with one day collections he believed that this movie will be the all time record collections for Vijay.
RB Choudhary concluded saying both the movies Jilla and Veeram were equal but the collections of his movie Jilla is extra and talk regarding both the movie is good and has a producer he is very happy indeed.
Nesan the director of the movie who spoke at the press meet said his main priority was to please both Vijay and Mohanlal's fans. He said he was very happy as the distributors have told him that the movie has surpassed Thupakki movie collection and in Kerala 5 years la illatha collection was there for this movie. The director also revealed he has been offered to remake the movie in both Telugu and Hindi.
