Director Lingusamy in a recent interview officially confirmed that Surya is playing a dual role in Anjaan which leads up to an intresting time at Kollywood where all the upcoming movies of the big league actors have dual and triple roles. 

• Surya dual role in Anjaan - Officially Confirmed

Chiyaan Vikram has finally wrapped up the shooting schedule for Shankar's Ai. The human chameleon will now begin the mass entertainer with his long time buddy Director Dharani, The duo have already dished out two commercial hits in Dhill and Dhool.

According to sources the movie has been titled as Rascal and the makers were considering casting either Hansika or Trisha as the lead heroine. Actress Trisha who shares a special friendship with Chiyaan and has already done two movies in Saamy and Bheema was confident that she will get the nod. However sources now report that makers have signed up Hansika instead and this has really upset Trisha.

Shankar Reveals Details about Vikram's Ai !

The most hush-hush project in Kollywood currently is Chiyaan Vikram's Ai which is directed by Shankar. The details of the movie have been kept under wraps for quite a long-time which has created huge expectations, Now the director has himself come out and revealed certain details on the film

Director Shankar posted this on Facebook page, "A... to ...y' 'Ai' is completed after lots of hurdles...Vikram & Weta's shoot totally completed by 25th Feb, balance 'z' left is only one song with Amy..Editing, dubbing & CG works are going in full swing...Frequently asked question is about the release. If 'all is well' 'Ai' will be ready for summer. Since this is a big film the release depends upon the producer's plan. Catch you soon!" 

The first look of the movie might be unveiled on Chiyaan Vikram's Birthday which is 17th April !

Amy Jackson reveals some secrets about Shankar's Ai

Model cum actress Amy Jackson plays the female lead in what could be landmark movie in Kollywood History in Ai. The actress opened up to The Times of India and revealed some secrets on the much anticipated movie 

"Shankar's movie has taken us to China and to places all over India. To work with Shankar in just my third film is brilliant for me. The reason I call it a breakthrough is because this role has helped me push my boundaries.My character, Diya, has Tamil dialogues throughout. It's been a great challenge because it is something I have never done before. She's an Indian girl. I've only played a half-Indian girl in my other films until now." 

 "The biggest challenge as far as Ai was concerned is that it's been happening for two years now. I have not done any movies in between because this is the biggest film of my career and I wanted to dedicate myself to it.Director Shankar has got the best of professionals from all over the world, including America and New Zealand to work on it. We have completely finished shooting all the scenes. The film has five songs. I have just one song left to be shot and that happens to be my intro song in the film. We will be shooting it in Chennai next month." 

"I think Vikram is in a league of his own. I don't think I can compete with him just yet. Maybe 10 years down the line, I will start competing. Vikram definitely brings out the best in me and is an inspiration. He has been in the industry for 20 years and in every film, he plays a completely different person. His looks change in every single movie. In this movie itself, he has so many different looks, it is unbelievable. Both of us naturally wanted to give our best and we did experiment. But at the end of the day, Shankar was the one who molded us into what he wanted."

Music Director Devi Sri Prasad who has composed music for all leading stars of Kollywood in Vijay, Ajith, Vikram and Surya recently opened up on the experience on working with these stars to a popular FM channel.

Here is the interview 

You have composed Music for Ajith, Vijay, Surya and Vikram films, for which the star was composing background music really challenging ?

All the four are really Mass heroes, I really worked hard and gave my best BGM for all the actors, But i was really afraid to compose for Ajith Sir because his one word, one walk or one look would make the entire theatre to erupt, After Rajini Sir, only Ajith sir has this effect.

So you can't just like that compose BGM for Ajith Sir movies, I have to compose the utmost mass music only then will his fans be at least lil' bit satisfied, Because of this every scene of sir i was very afraid and it was with this fear i composed.

Specially that Train sequence, Ajith sir put his life online and walked away from that scene with ease, But i realized that sir has taken risk no one else would taken and hence if i even slightly fail in BGM then i can't show my face to the outside world, it was with this fear that i composed.

Moreover Ajith Sir's recent releases all had amazing BGM's, Even on the night on Veeram's release i watched Mankatha movie, the BGM in the movie was absolutely rocking and my fear started growing even more. But after i saw Veeram in theatre, Every scene of Ajith Sir was filled with whistles and then realized my music has also come up very well and was i was very happy indeed.

If all the four actors movie came up at the same time, for which Actor would you compose First ?

Definitely Ajith's Sir movie. The reason, if we show mass it will reach correctly, I really want to score music for Ajith's sir movie again.

Why Jiiva rejected Shankar's Ai ?

Actor Jiiva who registered a successful comeback with Endrendrum Punnagai is currently into Yaan by Director turned Cinematographer Ravi K.Chandran. Actor Jiiva in recent interview revealed he was supposed to play the antagonist role in Shankar's upcoming movie Ai.

Jiiva said "After the release of Nanban movie, Shankar sir was busy with the script of his film (Ai) He had already proposed the main role of Vikram and was looking for another lead actor to play the villain role in the movie. Shankar Sir suddenly approached me and offered me to do the antagonist role in the film. But unfortunately i had prior committments at that time and i was unable to accept Shankar sir's offer. Moreover i was personally a bit hesitant to play the villain role has i received mixed response for my previous try Singam Puli. Shankar Sir then opted an actor from Bollywood (Upen Patel) to play the same role."

What's Next for Chiyaan Vikram ?

The man of dedication Chiyaan Vikram is currently involved with the last leg of Shankar's Ai shooting schedule. Ai one of the most expected movie in Kollywood's history is expected to release on April 14 2014 and sources add the entire team is working around the clock without even a lunch break to meet the release date.

There are numerous speculations on Chiyaan Vikram's next movie after Ai. There were earlier reports that his next would be with his long friend Director Dharani, Recently there were reports that Chiyaan was considering the Kollywood remake of Mohanlal's Drishyam. Now the latest buzz is that Chiyaan has been impressed by Ivan Vera Mathiri director Saravanan's one liner and supposedly asked him to go ahead with works for complete script. Looks like Chiyaan will be involved in multiple projects after Shankar's Ai.

Chiyaan Vikram in a recent interview to a daily has once again quoted the mass which Ilayathalapathy bears and how easily he takes things home.

Though the entire Kollywood industry is still in awe of sheer ease with which Chiyaan reduces and builds his weight , The actor was all praises for Vijay's physique and stated he breezes through his film like a new groom.

Chiyaan Vikram also added how impressive Vijay's comedy and dialogue delivery was and also added Vijay fans were countless !. Vikram concluded by stating Vijay's charm just keeps getting bigger and bigger with every movie release.

Mohanlal's Drishyam is currently the hottest movie in industry, Several leading stars from Kollywood have already expressed their interest to remake it in Tamil. The names currently being linked are Kamal Haasan, Sarath Kumar and Vikram.

Though Kamal Haasan was the first to be approached, the legendary actor had turn it down due to his prior commitments. Sarathkumar clarified that "He did watch the Malayalam film, and loved it. But he did not have interest in its Tamil remake."

So, it now looks like Chiyaan Vikram is the frontrunner for the role reprised by Mohanlal. Chiyaan was also blown away by the acting, storyline and presentation of the Mohanlal-starrer and immediately expressed interest in remaking the film into Tamil.  

Will Vikram Say Yes to Venkatesh ?

Tollywood veteran Venkatesh known as Victory Venkatesh is currently very cautious about his next movie considering his previous two releases Shadow and Masala have ended up in huge loss. The actor recently walked out of a prestigious multi-starrer project has he was not satisfied with the role offered to him.

The actor however has his eyes fixed on the Tollywood remake of Oh My God a runaway blockbuster in Bollywood. Sources add that Venkatesh wants to do Paresh Rawal's character in Telugu version while he has asked his best friend Chiyaan Vikram to do the role of Lord Krishna in the Telugu remake. Sources also add that if Chiyaan says yes , then OMG will be simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu.

Rajinikanth : Superstar's Kochadaiyaan which was scheduled to release this year missed out but Superstar's Endhiran box office collection is still the record to beat.

Kamal Haasan: After crossing several hurdles and challenges, Ullaganayagan's Vishwaroopam went on to be a massive hit grossing 30 crores in Tamil Nadu box office and counting the Bollywood and International release the collection amounts of 85 crores which makes him "The Man of the Box Office for the year 2013"

Thala Thalapathy - Ajith and Vijay 

To the question of whether it was Thala or Thalapathy the runner up to Kamal Haasan , without a shred of doubt it has to be Thala Ajith for this year. The reason being his movie Arrambam and it's collection. The movie grossed 35 crores in Tamil Nadu box office alone and add to the collections from Andhra the movie amassed a total collection of 65 crores.

From Vijay's point of view his last year release Thupakki is still his biggest success in the last 4 years which grossed a mammoth 80 crores. But this year due to several off screen issues his Thalaivaa movie failed to release on time. Though the movie had been sold for 50 crores it only collected 13 crores in Tamil Nadu box office.

After Ajith it was Surya who rocked the Box Office with his Singam 2 movie which grossed 60 crores and fetched him the third rank after Kamal Haasan and Ajith.

Chiyaan Vikram 2012 release Thandavam slightly tarnished the commercial image of the actor and this year's release David (Tamil Dubbed) failed to run in theatres even for few days. The actor however is currently spilling his heart out in Shankar' Ai which is currently slated for April 14th 2014 release.

Between STR and Dhanush who stood next to Vikram last year, STR did not have a single movie release this year but currently holds a untitled project with Pandiyaraj, Sattrendu Maruthu Vannillai with Gautham Vasudev Menon, an untitled project with Selvaraghavan and Vada Chennai with Vetrimaran and another project with Thotti Jaya director and Vaalu and Vettaimannan also being in the pipeline.

Dhanush's Bollywood debut Raanjhnaa rocked the box office and made it to the illustrious 100 crore club. But the tamil version of the movie Ambikapathy netted only 8 crores. Though Dhanush's Maryan fetched the actor critical acclaim the movie failed at the box office and his Naiyaandi was also huge let down.

Vishal after repeated failure struck gold at the box office with his Pandiya Nadu movie which amounted to 40 crores in total and his Pattathu Yaanai also did decent business with a collection of 20 crores.

Arya starred in several multi-starrer movies this year like Arrambam, Raja Rani and Settai. The actor's Raja Rani alongside Nayanthara and Jai grossed 30 crores while his Settai movie may have been a flop but still made a collection of 20 crores. Arya's much expected movie of the year Irandam Ulagam however bombed very severely at the box office.

Siva Karthikeyan had a dream run this year with all his three films  – Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, Ethir Neechal and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam – turning out to be blockbusters.

Vijay Sethupathi tasted  huge success in Soodhu Kavvum and  moderate success in Idharkuthane Asaipattai Balakumara. The actor's Soodhu Kavvum is considered by many as the best movie of the year.

Jayam’ Ravi's Aadhi Bhagavan which opened to huge expectations failed to impress at the box office.

Jiiva had two releases in David and Endrendrum Punnagai, the later is well on its way to be massive blockbuster.
