Mahesh Babu the reason why Samantha was Turned down ?

There is currently a rumor going around in K'town that Samantha was the first choice for Mani Ratnam's upcoming movie but was later replaced with Shruti Haasan heeding to Mahesh Babu's decision. Tollywood insiders reported that the 'regressive' poster incident between Sam and Mahesh Babu did not go well with the actor and hence wanted Mani Ratnam to replace her.

It's worth mentioning that Samantha was also the first choice for Mani Ratnam's Kadal but was unable to take up the movie due to her skin issues and Mani Ratnam wanted to offer the role in his upcoming film to Samantha once again. However Sam in a recent media interaction said it was just a baseless rumor  “No, no one from Mani Ratnam sir’s office approached me for his next film.”

Mani Ratnam movie reportedly features Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu, Aishwarya Rai, Shruti Haasan, Fahadh Fasil and Nazriya.

The legendary director Mani Ratnam suffered a huge setback with back to back commercial disasters in Raavanan and Kadal. The ace director is currently plotting a comeback of epic proportions, Sources reveal that Mani Ratnam's next is being made a budget of over 100 crores. 

The film will have stars from Bollywood, Kollywood, Tollywood and Mollywood - Aishwarya Rai, Shruti Haasan, Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna will be playing lead roles with the recently engaged Fahadh Fazil and Nazriya making a cameo.

Legendary Director Mani Ratnam's Kadal may have been a huge letdown but the buzz around his next movie is nothing short of epic. As we reported earlier Tollywood Superstar Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna were roped into this illustrious project.

Now the latest buzz is that actress Shruti Haasan and Aishwarya Rai have also been signed up the legendary director. Reliable source also adds that Shruti Haasan will pair up with Mahesh Babu while Aishwarya Rai will be making a comeback pairing up with Nagarjuna.

Legendary Director Mani Ratnam's Kadal may have been a huge letdown but the buzz around his next movie is nothing short of epic. There were earlier buzz that Mahesh Babu was all set to play the lead in Mani Ratnam's untitled action entertainer. Now the latest is that Nagarjuna will also be part of this Tamil- Telugu bilingual.

A source close to the Ratchagan actor confirmed the buzz to Times of India stating, "Yes, Mani Ratnam sir had met up with Nagarjuna a few days ago and had discussed the possibility of working on a project together. He wanted to check if both the actors, Mahesh and he, are interested in working together, and Nag said he was game for it. Mani sir will be back with the completed script soon, and further announcements will be made after that."

Nagarjuna and Mani Ratnam have already worked together in Geethanjali which won the coveted National Award and seven Nandi Awards as well.

Mani Ratnam's Kadal was without question one of the biggest letdowns of the year 2013. The much anticipated movie absolutely bombed at the box office. This in time led to the question of how the legendary Director was gonna hit back and What was his next movie and who would star in it ? Intial reports suggested that the Director had roped in Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma for his next. Those reports were then thrashed as rumors. Now the latest buzz on Mani Ratnam is that Mollywood star Fahad Fazil has been signed up by the director for his next.

Though nothing much about the movie has been revealed yet. Sources claim that Fahad will be playing the lead role in the movie. Neither the director nor the actor has however confirmed about this news.

The deadly duo of Mani Ratnam and Chiyaan Vikram came together for Raavanan though the movie did not set the box office on the fire, the acting performance of Chiyaan was widely appreciated and to an extent outperformed Abhishek Bachchan which led to a mini controversy of sorts, However Chiyaan in a recent interview revealed that he had the opportunity to be a part of 3 different Mani Ratnam movies. 

Yes Vikram was first called for a screen test with Manisha Koirala for Bombay. Vikram said "I was terrified of the still camera. Mani sir was giving me a non-stop stream of instructions. She’s coming. You’re looking there. You’re turning. She’s turning. I froze. I was trying to hold one expression for the camera, and he said, ‘No, no, no, just be free, be natural." Vikram had grown his hair long and had a beard for the Pudhiya Mannargal part, but Ratnam wanted someone with close-cut hair and just a moustache. “I was on a break between schedules,” Vikram said. “I could have even shaved my head. But I was an actor, you see. It was all about continuity.” 

After Bombay Mani Ratnam also approached Vikram to play the role of Swarnamalya's fiancee in Alaipayuthe and Nandita's husband role in Kannathil Muthamittal but Chiyaan rejected those offers because he felt he would be just stuck up with these secondary roles.
