Director Shankar Reveals his Favourite Movie !

Director Shankar who is currently busy into the post production of his Magnum opus Ai found some time to grace the Maan Karate audio launch which happened yesterday.

Director Shankar who spoke at the launch said he was huge fan of A.R.Murugadoss's Thuppaki with Ilayathalapathy and it revealed it was also his favourite movie. Shankar went on add that he admired A.R.M's writing skills and said he was a fan of Anirudh's compositions.

Shankar concluded his speech saying the lead hero of the movie Siva Karthikeyan will soon reach the top tier hero's list soon.

The Young Maestro's Anirudh Ravichander's fifth album Maan Karate is all set to release on 16th of March. Anirudh previous albums have all been huge chartbusters and with every movie release, Anirudh's reputation and fan base keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Now the latest is that Director Shankar has volunteered to grace the audio launch of Maan Karate, The reason being he has already heard all the songs and has become a huge fan for the entire album after listening to the tracks on repeat mode in his car. Shankar has even predicted that album will be mass hit due to energetic and electrifying content.

Maan Karate has Sivakarthikeyan and Hansika in the lead. Directed by Thiru Kumaran who was a former associate of AR Murugadoss, the film is jointly produced by Escape Artists Madhan and AR Murugadoss.

How many roles does Superstar have in Kochadaiiyaan ?

Fans it's known fact that Superstar's Kochadaiiyan trailer was released in a grand manner at Sathyam yesterday. Here are some intresting tit-bits from the grand event 

• As per the producers, Kochadaiiyan's budget is 125 crores.
• The movie is currently slated for release on the 11th of April 2014 targeting a Tamil Year weekend release.
• Superstar Rajinikanth has three roles in Kochadaiiyan - One the title role 'Kochadaiiyaan' and two sons 'Rana' and 'Sena'.
• Director Soundarya Rajinikanth revealed that if someone had got her the dates of Dhanush she would have definitely given him a role in the film.
• Both K.S Ravikumar and Shankar while they spoke were asked by fans to reveal if their next film was with Superstar ? However both the directors diplomatically declined the request.

Shankar Reveals Details about Vikram's Ai !

The most hush-hush project in Kollywood currently is Chiyaan Vikram's Ai which is directed by Shankar. The details of the movie have been kept under wraps for quite a long-time which has created huge expectations, Now the director has himself come out and revealed certain details on the film

Director Shankar posted this on Facebook page, "A... to ...y' 'Ai' is completed after lots of hurdles...Vikram & Weta's shoot totally completed by 25th Feb, balance 'z' left is only one song with Amy..Editing, dubbing & CG works are going in full swing...Frequently asked question is about the release. If 'all is well' 'Ai' will be ready for summer. Since this is a big film the release depends upon the producer's plan. Catch you soon!" 

The first look of the movie might be unveiled on Chiyaan Vikram's Birthday which is 17th April !

Amy Jackson reveals some secrets about Shankar's Ai

Model cum actress Amy Jackson plays the female lead in what could be landmark movie in Kollywood History in Ai. The actress opened up to The Times of India and revealed some secrets on the much anticipated movie 

"Shankar's movie has taken us to China and to places all over India. To work with Shankar in just my third film is brilliant for me. The reason I call it a breakthrough is because this role has helped me push my boundaries.My character, Diya, has Tamil dialogues throughout. It's been a great challenge because it is something I have never done before. She's an Indian girl. I've only played a half-Indian girl in my other films until now." 

 "The biggest challenge as far as Ai was concerned is that it's been happening for two years now. I have not done any movies in between because this is the biggest film of my career and I wanted to dedicate myself to it.Director Shankar has got the best of professionals from all over the world, including America and New Zealand to work on it. We have completely finished shooting all the scenes. The film has five songs. I have just one song left to be shot and that happens to be my intro song in the film. We will be shooting it in Chennai next month." 

"I think Vikram is in a league of his own. I don't think I can compete with him just yet. Maybe 10 years down the line, I will start competing. Vikram definitely brings out the best in me and is an inspiration. He has been in the industry for 20 years and in every film, he plays a completely different person. His looks change in every single movie. In this movie itself, he has so many different looks, it is unbelievable. Both of us naturally wanted to give our best and we did experiment. But at the end of the day, Shankar was the one who molded us into what he wanted."

Shankar's Next is Indian 2 !

There were numerous reports that Director Shankar was the lucky candidate to direct Superstar's next and that a sequel to the massive blockbuster Endhiran was on cards. However things have sort of changed as K.S Ravikumar is currently wielding the megaphone for Superstar's Next.

This has in turn forced Shankar to direct a sequel to his other blockbuster Indian, Reliable sources have reported that Shankar has been contemplating Indian 2 with Ulaganayagan for quite sometime and now that Endhiran 2 has been postponed, The Director might go ahead with this sequel.

There were also earlier reports suggesting Surya would play the role of Kamal Haasan's Grandson in the movie and both Surya and Kamal Haasan would star in this sequel.  An official confirmation on the project would be made only after the completion of Shankar's Ai with Chiyaan Vikram.

Who's Directing Superstar Rajinikanth's Next ?

Who is Directing Superstar Rajinikanth Next ? That's currently the million dollar question in Kollywood. Rumors after rumors have been reported in this regard, There have been reports linking Shankar, K.V Anand and K.S Ravikumar who have all approached Superstar with scrips at various time avenues.

Sources now report that after hearing out all the three scripts from all the three directors, Superstar has gone with K.S Ravikumar as his final pick. Long time friend of Superstar and head of Rockline Productions Venkatesh is expected to produce this movie.

K.S Ravikumar did recently deny reports linking him to Superstar project stating his next was with Sudeep and he was not involved in Superstar's next in any manner "I've lost count of the number of times this rumour has surfaced! I'm not doing Rajini's next film; in fact, I will be directing Sudeep soon" said K.S Ravikumar. Only an official confirmation would clear these doubts.

Why Jiiva rejected Shankar's Ai ?

Actor Jiiva who registered a successful comeback with Endrendrum Punnagai is currently into Yaan by Director turned Cinematographer Ravi K.Chandran. Actor Jiiva in recent interview revealed he was supposed to play the antagonist role in Shankar's upcoming movie Ai.

Jiiva said "After the release of Nanban movie, Shankar sir was busy with the script of his film (Ai) He had already proposed the main role of Vikram and was looking for another lead actor to play the villain role in the movie. Shankar Sir suddenly approached me and offered me to do the antagonist role in the film. But unfortunately i had prior committments at that time and i was unable to accept Shankar sir's offer. Moreover i was personally a bit hesitant to play the villain role has i received mixed response for my previous try Singam Puli. Shankar Sir then opted an actor from Bollywood (Upen Patel) to play the same role."

Fans here is the latest hot buzz going around in Kollywood. Director K.V Anand who was earlier confirmed to direct Superstar Rajinikanth has however been declared a rumor and sources add Shankar will be helming Superstar's next. 

Now the latest is that KV Anand has approached Ajith for the same script which he narrated to Rajinikanth. It's worth mentioning that KV Anand initially scripted the Ko movie for Ajith but was replaced by Jiiva as things didn't work out.

There is no official confirmation on the project and Thala's next movie with Gautham Menon commences the end of January next year.

Endhiran 2 Unofficially Official ?

As SS Music earlier reported there was huge buzz that Shankar and Rajinikanth would reunite once again for Endhiran 2. Reports had it that Shankar and Rajini had discussed several one liners and finally locked Endhiran 2 as their next and had also visited AGS office to discuss the budget details of their movie. 

Now a reliable source in Kollywood just came out with the story that these talks are indeed true and AGS might indeed produce the movie but added a word of caution stating the project 'May' happen after april 2014 and to wait for the official confirmation.

Though Superstar's Kochadaiyaan is still awaiting release, Rumors regarding Superstar's next are already flooding the Kollywood industry. There was a recent buzz that KS Ravikumar might re-unite with Superstar again. However the veteran director has clarified things stating "I've lost count of the number of times this rumour has surfaced! I'm not doing Rajini's next film; in fact, I will be directing Sudeep soon. I'm finalizing the details of that film, and will make an official announcement soon."

It's worth mentioning that there were also some reports of KV Anand narrating a script to Superstar and Shankar's next was Endhiran 2 with Rajinikanth.

Shankar's magnum opus Ai with Chiyaan Vikram has been in the making for quite a while now. The movie was initially to be wrapped by December but due to some financial troubles the shooting portions will now completed by January 2014. The expectation surrounding the movie is absolutely humongous to say the least. The latest images of Chiyaan Vikram in his bald look has created more hype around the movie.

Sources have come up with a basic outline of Ai's story from person claiming to be close to the crew. According to the report, Ai revolves around five persons, a model (Amy Jackson) a doctor(Upen Patel) and three other people who get affected by a poisonous chemical. Reports add Chiyaan will sport a look which will depict a person with his face affected by such chemical.

There is however no official confirmation on above report.

Endhiran 2 is currently creating some huge ripples around K'Town.  There is a very strong buzz going around that Shankar and Rajinikanth have been discussing one liner scripts for quite a while now, With both Shankar's Ai and Kochadaiyaan in final stage, the duo are now meeting regularly to finalize on the script and budget.

Sources add Superstar and Shankar also visited AGS office to discuss the budget details of their movie. Superstar also currently holds an agreement with Eros International which means EROS will be involved from distribution capacity.

It's reported that the duo have zeroed in on a sequel to Endhiran 2, and a tentative budget of 200 crores has been set. An official annoucement of Superstar's Next is expected to made prior to the release of Kochadaiyaan.

Jeans will forever be remembered as one of Director Shankar's best, This romantic gem redefined dual roles in Indian Cinema and also featured the lovely Aishwarya Rai. The latest info on this classic is that a sequel is on-store. Yes Prasanth's father Thiyagarajan has registered the title Jeans 2 with the film chamber.

Sources say Thiyagarajan might be producing the film under his Lakshmi Shanthi Movie Makers banner which is owned by him. It's still unclear who will wield the megaphone for this movie. This movie could be the way back for Actor Prasanth into the mainstream of Kollywood.
