Actor Vijay Sethupathi is one actor who does complete justice to the role he does in every movie, The actor who just seems to get better and better had to undertake certain lessons for his upcoming release. Vijay Sethupathi's next is Mellisai where the actor plays the role of a musician and hence learnt to play the piano despite being busy and continuously shooting for five movies at the same time.

Ranjith the director said, "He (Vijay Sethupathi) plays the role of a musician who works on albums. He learnt to play the piano from an expert. Gayathrie, who plays the female lead, learnt to play the violin for her role as a music teacher. Vijay and Gayathrie play a couple and the story revolves around a mystery surrounding them."

Who's Teaming up with Vijay Sethupathi Now ?

Ace director and the National Award Winner Bala is all set to join hands with Vijay Sethupathi for the first time. Bala's B-Studios will produce Vijay Sethupathi next film titled 'Vasanthakumaran'. The film will be directed by Anand Kumaresan who has earlier worked as associate in films like Semma Ragalai and Ethri En 3. The movie is expected to be romantic family entertainer.

Anand Kumaresan pens the story, screenplay and dialogues while the music will be scored by Jestin Prabhakar with cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan. The expectations are obviously high as the rising star teams up with Legendary Bala.

The Reason why Manisha Yadav was shockingly dumped from Idam Porul Eval

It was earlier reported that Manisha Yadav of Vazhakku Enn 18/9 fame has been roped as the female lead to Vijay Sethupathy in Idam Porul Eval. Now after shooting for a couple of days, the actress has been dumped from the film.

Manisha who was angered by this sudden decision has filed a complaint with Nadigar Sangam seeking compensation. Manisha's mother had this to say to  The Times of India regarding the incident

 "We don't know the real reason behind her removal from the film. She is very upset with this development.We are going to file a complaint with the association, seeking for compensation. She had received very good film offers from Hyderabad, but she missed all of them because of this film. She wanted to do this film only for the production house and her character, not for the money they offered. It's unfair that she has been thrown out of a film for no reason." 

So, what went wrong? "The shooting for the film started on March 3, but we went to Kodaikanal only a few days ago. After an on-the-set look test one day, she shot for half an hour the next day. She was given lengthy dialogues in rural Tamil, and she managed to deliver most of it right, except for one or two lines. The next day, the production manager asked us to stay at our hotel room until her shot was ready. But at noon, he called up and said that he's coming with two tickets to Bangalore.We were shocked, and asked for a reason. He told us that Manisha didn't suit the character, and that she wasn't able to deliver the dialogues well. How can a non-Tamil actress get all the lines in rural Tamil right the first time? Any heroine would struggle with these lines. Also, Manisha had auditioned for her role thrice, and had even done look tests before signing the film!" she recalls, and adds, "The director later offered her the role of the second heroine, the one who is paired opposite Vishnu Vishal, but we declined it because we only signed to be paired opposite Vijay Sethupathi only. The director can't sign anyone else for that role because we still have the agreement." 

The director of the movie Seenu Ramasamy had this to say  "I had screen-tested her with a different look and her appearance looked sophisticated in the actual get-up during the shooting. So, I decided to offer her the other role in the interest of the film. Contrary to rumours, I still think of her as a talented actress and have no doubts on her performing abilities."

Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam is an upcoming movie which is written and directed by Parthiban. The actor cum director has roped in several stars for the movie namely Vijay Sethupathi, Prakash Raj, Arya, Amala and Nazriya.

Parthiban confirmed the above stating, "Prakash Raj, Arya, Amala Paul and Nazriya have given their consent. In fact, Arya and Amala also shot for it; they will be seen in a cute love story in the film. I've spoken with some other industry folks too, and most of them have agreed to be part of the film. While some will appear as themselves in the film, others will be playing characters in it."

Interestingly this is the first feature film which is directed by Parthiban in which he doesn't play the lead role.

The rising star of Kollywood, the man with a magic touch Vijay Sethupathi is all set to join an international director. Yes the internationally acclaimed director Biju Viswanath will helm Vijay Sethupathi's Aarange Mittai which is produced under the actor's home banner Vijay Sethupathy Production. Interestingly Vijay Sethupathi will also pen dialogues for maiden production venture.

Biju Vishwanath movies have been screened throughout the world. Viswanath won two awards for Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay in New York Independent Film Festival for his feature film Marathon said “I met Vijay just before Pizza. I was impressed by his passion for films and his script knowledge. We planned  a movie together, but that didn’t happen due to my commitments abroad. In the meantime, he became a big name but to my amazement, retained the same simplicity. One day I asked his opinion on the script of Aarange Mittai. He liked it a lot and offered to produce it ” 

Speaking about the dialogues Biju says, “I got it translated from the original English into Tamil.  But when Vijay was reading aloud and improvising,  his  version of the dialogues was so convincing and realistic, that I decided to retain the dialogues that he gave.”

Actor Vijay Sethupathi was recently posed an intresting question by the fans in a recent promotional event. The question was if Vijay Sethupathi and Siva Karthikeyan were the next Ajith & Vijay of the Kollywood industry and what was his view on the same ?

Vijay Sethupathi had to this say  "Rajini- Kamal, Ajith - Vijay, I think from now on there won't be just a two-way competition like this. Vijay Sethupathi has never looked back since the rocking success of Pizza. All his movies went on to become smashing hits garnering both commercial success and critical acclaim. The talented actors last release Rummy has however got mixed reviews and even after the 15 minutes which were cut from the movie sources have predicted the movie will indeed end up as a loss.

Vijay Sethupathy who is known for his honest opinions said One cannot expect same kind of response for all movies and added Rummy was still very close to his heart, He went to add that he acted in Rummy for his close friend Inigo Prabhakaran knowing very well that he will have less screen presence in Rummy.

The Pongal Box Office battle between Jilla and Veeram might have been neck to neck but Siva Karthikeyan has emerged clear winner in Pongal Television battle. Leading satellite channels like Sun Tv, Vijay Tv, Raj Tv and Zee Tamil had lined up all the latest blockbusters like Thalaivaa, Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, Raja Rani, Pandiyanadu, Alex Pandiyan, Idharakku Dhane Asaipattai Balakumara and Desingu Raja for the long pongal weekend.

From the elite list Siva Karthikeyan's Varupathadatha Valibar Sangam emerged the winner grabbing 12.29 TRP ratings, Followed by Vijay's Thalaivaa at 11.39, Alex Pandiyan at 8.67, Raja Rani 7.36, Pandiyanadu 3.76, Designu Raja 3.66 and Vijay Sethupathi's Idharakku Dhane Asaipattai Balakumara 3.34.

Siva Karthikeyan upcoming movie Maan Karate has also racked up huge expectations among fans, trade analyst and distributors.

Vijay Sethupathi does it again

The Kollywood sensation Vijay Sethupathi has already proved his acting skills, and all his films till date have been Blockbuster. Vijay then tried his hand at production and started his own production house with a film called Sangudevan for which the actor sported a handlebar moustache. However all of sudden Vijay conducted a press meet and announced that he had dropped Sangudevan.

Now the latest news is that the actor is trying his hand at production once again with  'Aaranju Mittai' which is directed by Biju Viswanath.

Vijay Sethupathi confirmed the news stating “I am producing this film, merely because it has a very good storyline, and an impressive script. Also, I am planning to produce another flick very soon, and  talks are going on,”  Sources add Vijay Sethupathy might also star in Aaranju Mittai.

• Best Commercial Movie of the Year 2013 -  The Poll was once again dominated by the numerous Thala and Thalapathy fans. From the start it was a very close call between Thala's Arrambam and Ilayathalapathy's Thalaivaa. However it was Thala's Arrambam which bagged the coveted Number 1 spot bagging 3,570 votes. Vijay's Thalaivaa  finished second with 3,495 votes. Arya and Jai's multistarrer Raja Rani bagged 3rd spot with 1,295 votes.

• Best Actor of the Year 2013 - This Poll was also dominated by Thala Thalapathy fans, This Poll was however won by Vijay for his Thalaivaa movie with 2,227 Votes while Ajith grabbed the second spot with 2,073 Votes. Our Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan bagged the 3rd spot with 583 Votes. 

• Best Actress of the Year 2013 : This was a showdown between Trisha and Nayanthara who both made a strong comeback in Endrendrum Punnagai and Raja Rani respectively. Nayanthara was the clear winner with 1,874 Votes while 2nd place Trisha got total votes of 1,016. Anushka Shetty's stupendous performance in Irandam Ulagam got her the third place with 520 Votes.

Rajinikanth : Superstar's Kochadaiyaan which was scheduled to release this year missed out but Superstar's Endhiran box office collection is still the record to beat.

Kamal Haasan: After crossing several hurdles and challenges, Ullaganayagan's Vishwaroopam went on to be a massive hit grossing 30 crores in Tamil Nadu box office and counting the Bollywood and International release the collection amounts of 85 crores which makes him "The Man of the Box Office for the year 2013"

Thala Thalapathy - Ajith and Vijay 

To the question of whether it was Thala or Thalapathy the runner up to Kamal Haasan , without a shred of doubt it has to be Thala Ajith for this year. The reason being his movie Arrambam and it's collection. The movie grossed 35 crores in Tamil Nadu box office alone and add to the collections from Andhra the movie amassed a total collection of 65 crores.

From Vijay's point of view his last year release Thupakki is still his biggest success in the last 4 years which grossed a mammoth 80 crores. But this year due to several off screen issues his Thalaivaa movie failed to release on time. Though the movie had been sold for 50 crores it only collected 13 crores in Tamil Nadu box office.

After Ajith it was Surya who rocked the Box Office with his Singam 2 movie which grossed 60 crores and fetched him the third rank after Kamal Haasan and Ajith.

Chiyaan Vikram 2012 release Thandavam slightly tarnished the commercial image of the actor and this year's release David (Tamil Dubbed) failed to run in theatres even for few days. The actor however is currently spilling his heart out in Shankar' Ai which is currently slated for April 14th 2014 release.

Between STR and Dhanush who stood next to Vikram last year, STR did not have a single movie release this year but currently holds a untitled project with Pandiyaraj, Sattrendu Maruthu Vannillai with Gautham Vasudev Menon, an untitled project with Selvaraghavan and Vada Chennai with Vetrimaran and another project with Thotti Jaya director and Vaalu and Vettaimannan also being in the pipeline.

Dhanush's Bollywood debut Raanjhnaa rocked the box office and made it to the illustrious 100 crore club. But the tamil version of the movie Ambikapathy netted only 8 crores. Though Dhanush's Maryan fetched the actor critical acclaim the movie failed at the box office and his Naiyaandi was also huge let down.

Vishal after repeated failure struck gold at the box office with his Pandiya Nadu movie which amounted to 40 crores in total and his Pattathu Yaanai also did decent business with a collection of 20 crores.

Arya starred in several multi-starrer movies this year like Arrambam, Raja Rani and Settai. The actor's Raja Rani alongside Nayanthara and Jai grossed 30 crores while his Settai movie may have been a flop but still made a collection of 20 crores. Arya's much expected movie of the year Irandam Ulagam however bombed very severely at the box office.

Siva Karthikeyan had a dream run this year with all his three films  – Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, Ethir Neechal and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam – turning out to be blockbusters.

Vijay Sethupathi tasted  huge success in Soodhu Kavvum and  moderate success in Idharkuthane Asaipattai Balakumara. The actor's Soodhu Kavvum is considered by many as the best movie of the year.

Jayam’ Ravi's Aadhi Bhagavan which opened to huge expectations failed to impress at the box office.

Jiiva had two releases in David and Endrendrum Punnagai, the later is well on its way to be massive blockbuster.

Vijay Sethupathi's Pizza directed by Karthik Subbaraj was one of the best if not the best movie of year 2012. The movie was bestowed with a prestigious honor of being officially selected for River to River award from the 13 Florence Indian Film Festival. Though Naseeruddin Shah's The coffin maker won the award, Pizza was widely appreciated everyone.

After Pizza's screening in Italy a Hollywood producer Amal has seeked permission to dub the entire movie in english and re-release it worldwide. Sources add a huge amount has been offered to the producer who is absolutely ecstatic and if the deal does go through he has offered to pay all the technicians and artists involved in the movie with an amount equal to that of the salary they received earlier.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi may have delivered three back to back hits but even that hasn't helped the actor in gaining the screens for his Rummy movie. Vijay Sethupathi upcoming movie Rummy which is directed by debutant Balakrishnan was supposed to release on the 27th of December but due to the several Tamil and Hindi films that are being lined up for release the movie could  not get adequate theatres and the distributors have now decided to push the movie release to 2014. 

The romantic thriller has Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathri, Inigo  Prabhakaran and Aishwarya to its starcast.

• On the worst insult he had received in his career - When he was chased away from the shooting spot while he was about to have lunch as unnamed person told him he doesn't belong here.
• He never had the courage to even propose - Vijay Sethupathi said he was someone who was always shy in his life to the extent that he did not even have the courage to propose to the one he loved. The actor said he was in love with a girl for 3 years while in school and then another 4 years in his college life but he was sure that the girls till date wouldn't even know if he had loved them. 
• On his wife Jessie - Vijay said the same shy guy proposed on the second day to her, She was his friend's office colleague and within one week he had informed his parents and in just 5 months he was married to her. 
• On his fear of failure - Vijay revealed he is indeed very afraid that with all the massive attention he his currently getting he might all of sudden totally disappear and he doesn't want to be branded an seasonal hit actor.
• The first autograph he ever signed - It was during the shoot of 'Lee' where he acted with Sibi Raj and they were shooting in a football field when one boy ran up to him to get his autograph, Vijay revealed that he told that boy that the hero was there (Pointing at Sibi Raj) However the boy told him that he had seen in a serial (PENN) and got his autograph.
• His First Shoot and why he was rejected - Vijay Sethupathi said the first shoot he ever went to was Kamal Haasan's Nammavar shooting where he and his friends auditioned for a scene where they just had to walk in the background as a college student but he alone was rejected for being a "PALAM" 
• Confessions - Vijay confessed he once drank his father's drink (Alcohol) while he studying in 8th STD has he thought it would be very tasty, The actor also confessed his first party was with his dad when he studied 12th where he drank with his dad.

The Movie Vijay Sethupathi Couldn't Just Say No to

Actor Vijay Sethupathi is currently shooting simultaneously for four movies and has just added another movie to the illustrious list. Yes Vijay Sethupathi is now also shooting for Mellisai a thriller along the lines of his Pizza movie. The actor himself confirmed the news to a popular daily stating "Mellisai, which is directed by debutant Ranjith, has an interesting story and is a thriller. I was hooked on to Ranjith's narration and accepted this film despite all my other prior commitments."

Vijay Sethupathi did previously state that he cannot take up any new project until the next year due to his previous commitments, Looks like Mellisai was just too good to say No to, Actress Gayathri who paired up with Vijay for Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kannum will play the female lead.
